Eric Johnson Investigation Update-Former Redridge Securities Stock Broker

In October 2014, former Redridge Securities stock broker Eric W. Johnson was barred from the securities industry for failing to cooperate with a FINRA investigation of allegations that he misappropriated more than one million in customer funds. See this for more. 

Johnson’s current FINRA records report the following additional disclosures:

  • 2/23/2016-State of Illinois Investigation into misappropriation of more than $1 million from at least six customers. License revoked.
  • 4/15/2015- US Securities & Exchange Commission Investigation
  • 1/7/2015- Johnson pled guilty to forging at least 130 letters of authorization in order to fraudulently transfer $1.25 million from client accounts to his personal accounts.
  • 9/14/2014-Discharged from H.D. Brent & Company as a result of pending FBI investigation.

Redridge Securities and CEO Brent Hunt Sanctioned by Securities Regulator

February 3, 2015

Redridge Securities and Brent D. Hunt, its CEO and chief compliance officer  entered into a Letter of Acceptance, Waiver and Consent  (AWC) with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) to resolve allegations that they failed to establish and enforce supervisory controls that were reasonably designed to detect unauthorized transfer activities which permitted one of their princials to convert more than one million dollars from customer accounts.

Redridge Securities was censured and fined $60,000. Brent Hunt was suspended as a principal for six months and fined $17,500.

Eric Johnson, former Redridge Securities Broker, Sanctioned by FINRA

October 7, 2014-Hinsdale, New York

Eric William Johnson entered into a Letter of Acceptance, Waiver and Consent  (AWC) with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) to resolve allegations that from December 2006 through September 2014 Johnson misappropriated more than $1 million in customer funds. To effectuate some wire transfers of customer funds to his personal accounts, Johnson falsified, or caused to be falsified the signatures of a firm principal and the firm’s notary public, as well as the notary seal, according to the AWC.  Case # 2014042723401

Johnson refused to provide documents and information in connection with the FINRA investigation and would not appear for on the record testimony. He  was barred from the securities industry.

FINRA records indicate Johnson was registered with Redridge Securities from 3/1999–9/2014. Prior to that he was registered with Program Trading Corp.

SEC Files Emergency Action vs. Eric W. Johnson of Hinsdale, Illinois

November 15, 2014– Press reports indicated that Johnson is currently “no where to be found”.

November 5, 2014– The US Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) filed an emergency action against Eric W. Johnson of Hinsdale, Illinois,  alleging that from 2004-present he misappropriated at least $1 million from some of his advisory clients.

According to the complaint, Johnson admitted taking the money by forging client signatures on more than 100 separate wire transfer forms which transferred the customer funds to his personal bank account.

In October 2014, FINRA permanently barred Johnson from the industry.  Johnson was discharged by both Redridge Securities and H.D. Brent & Company in September 2014 when they learned that he was under investigation by the FBI for illegally taking customer funds.
