Lewis (Buddy) Rogers-Raymond James Broker-Former Client Awarded Over $250K For Unsuitable MLP Investments-Dallas, TX

Lewis H. Rogers, a broker who has worked for Raymond James & Associates since 2/2013, discloses on his FINRA records that an all public FINRA arbitration panel in Houston has ordered  Raymond James & Assoc to pay one of Roger’s former clients over $250,000 for losses (including attorney fees and interest) suffered in their accounts, which included an IRA.

The former clients alleged that they received recommendations to invest in inappropriate investments, including master-limited-partnerships, MLPs. The former clients alleged that their accounts were over concentrated in these unsuitable investments and that Raymond James did not disclose its conflict of interest as a major underwriter of at least two of the MLPs. FINRA is the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, the agency that licenses stock brokers and stock brokerage firms. Disputes over the mishandling of a brokerage account are generally resolved in FINRA arbitration, a process that is much more expedient and far less costly that court based litigation.

Stockbrokers have a duty to make recommendations that are suitable for the customer, taking into account the customer’s age, investment objectives and risk tolerance.

According to publicly available records Jeffrey J. Drapala , (CRD# 1674124) ,  a   stockbroker who is  currently employed by Raymond James Financial Services discloses a pending customer dispute.

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) is the agency that licenses and regulates stockbrokers and brokerage firms. FINRA requires brokers and brokerage firms to report customer complaints and disputes as well as regulatory sanctions. In addition brokers are required to disclose certain financial matters such as personal bankruptcies, judgments and liens.

In pending FINRA arbitration 16-3318, a customer of Raymond James alleges damages of $250,000 for breach of contract, suitability and failure to supervise in connection with an investment in listed equities.

James E. Mahan-Former Raymond James Broker-Sanctioned by Securities Regulator

The FINRA records of  James E. Mahan,  a  former stockbroker who most recently worked for Raymond James Financial Services  disclose a recent regulatory matter resulting in his permanent bar from the industry.

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) is the agency that licenses and regulates stockbrokers and brokerage firms. FINRA requires brokers and brokerage firms to report customer complaints and disputes as well as regulatory sanctions. In addition brokers are required to disclose certain financial matters such as personal bankruptcies, judgments and liens.

In August 2016, Mahan, without admitting or denying the findings, consented to a permanent bar from the securities industry and entry of findings that he refused to appear for on the record testimony requested by FINRA related to an internal review for recommending an unapproved outside investment to a client of the firm. FINRA Case 2015047115101.

Mahan was registered with Raymond James Financial Services from 5/2015-7/2016. Prior to that he was registered with J.P Morgan , Merrill Lynch and Chase Investments Services. Mahan was also affiliated with South Texas Capital Advisors.

According to FINRA records Ashik Akberall Kapasi  was barred from the securities industry by FINRA upon findings that he provided false responses to FINRA requests for information relating to his outside business activities and related loans.

According to FINRA records Kapasi was registered with Raymond James 8/2011-2//2013 and prior to that was registered with Merrill Lynch until 5/9/2011 where he was discharged for engaging in outside business activities without knowledge or consent of Merrill Lynch.
