Gerald Cocuzzo-Former Newbridge Securities Broker-Sentenced to 18 Months for Securities Fraud-Boca Raton,FL

July 2017 UPDATEGerald Cocuzzo was sentenced to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to securities fraud for his participation in the manipulation of Forcefield Energy, Inc. (FNRG) , a publicly traded company. Link to Department of Justice press release.

MAY 2017 UPDATEGerald Cocuzzo’s FINRA record discloses 2 pending arbitrations:

  • FINRA case # 16-01684-a customer of Newbridge Securities alleges that Cocuzzo overconcentrated their account, breached his fiduciary duty and violated California securities laws. No specific damages are stated.
  • FINRA case# 16-3501 seeks damages of $52,000 and alleges that the investment in Forcefield Energy Corp was fraudulent.

ORIGINAL POST-November 2016- 

The US Attorney’s Office announced that former Newbridge Securities stock broker Gerald Cocuzzo, pleaded guilty to securities fraud in connection with the fraudulent marketing of ForceField Energy, a publicly traded company with the symbol FNRG.

According to the release between 2009-2015, Cocuzzo and others manipulated the price of ForceField a purported worldwide distributor of LED lighting products causing losses of $131,000,000.

Cocuzzo faces up to 20 years in prison.

Cocuzzo was employed by Newbridge Securities from 12/2014-5/2016 and prior to that was employed by IAA Financial from 9/2009/1/2015.

Pranav Patel-Former Dawson James Broker-Named in ForceField Energy Suit-Boca Raton, FL

The FINRA records of Pranav V. Patel  (CRD 5391213), a stock broker who formerly was employed by Dawson James Securities , disclose that he was recently named in a customer dispute. In May 2016 Patel was charged with criminal conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Follow this link for more information on that matter. 

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) is the agency that licenses and regulates stockbrokers and brokerage firms. FINRA requires brokers and brokerage firms to report customer complaints and disputes as well as regulatory sanctions. In addition brokers are required to disclose certain financial matters such as personal bankruptcies, judgments and liens.

According to FINRA records, in June 2016 a civil case was filed naming Pranav Patel and others alleging damages of $62,855 and alleging that Patel sold ForceField Energy, Inc. to 5 individuals in a transaction not authorized by his then employer Dawson James Securities, Inc. Civil action No. 15-civ. 3020 (NRB) Southern District of New York. 

According to FINRA records, Patel  was  previously registered with Dawson James Securities, Columbus Advisory Group, National Securities Corporation, NSM Securities, CBG Financial Group and Gunn Allen Financial.

According to FINRA records,  Pranav V. Patel discloses:

  • A  pending criminal charge for Conspiracy to Commit Securities Fraud, Securities Fraud, Money Laundering Conspiracy and Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud. See this release dated May 3, 2016 from the US Attorney’s office for Eastern District of New York.
  • 1 pending civil event-See this SEC Litigation Release announcing fraud charges against Patel.
  • One prior settled customer complaints. In FINRA Case 11-3722, a customer while Patel was registered with  CBG Finanical Group alleged damages of $450,000 for unsuitable investments, misrepresentations and breach of fiduciary duties. That case was settled for $75,000.

According to FINRA records, Patel  was  previously registered with Dawson James Securities, Columbus Advisory Group, National Securities Corporation, NSM Securities, CBG Financial Group and Gunn Allen Financial.

Maroof Miyana-Former Legend Securities Broker-Indicted on Securities Fraud Charges

According to FINRA records,  Maroof Miyana discloses:

  • A  pending criminal charge for Conspiracy to Commit Securities Fraud, Securities Fraud, Money Laundering Conspiracy and Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud. See this release dated May 3, 2016 from the US Attorney’s office for Eastern District of New York.
  • 1 pending civil event-See this SEC Litigation Release announcing fraud charges against Miyana.
  • One prior settled customer complaints. In FINRA Case 14-3451, a customer while Miyana was registered with IAA Financial alleged damages of $400,000 for unsuitable investments. That case was settled for $72,000.
  • Termination by Legend Securities in May 2016 after indictment from the US District Court for Eastern District of NY.
  • Internal Revenue Service Lien of $226,387 for tax years 2011, 2012, 2013, filed in Palm Beach county courthouse.

According to FINRA records, Miyana  was  registered with Legend Securities from 12/2014-5/2016. Prior to that he was registered with IAA Financial from 9/2009-1/2015.
