Atul Makharia-Centaurus Financial Advisor-Subject of $333K Customer Suit-Lexington, South Carolina

According to publicly available records Atul Makharia , (CRD# 5070762) ,  a  stockbroker who is currently registered with Centaurus Financial, Inc.  disclose a pending customer dispute . 

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) is the agency that licenses and regulates stockbrokers and brokerage firms. FINRA requires brokers and brokerage firms to report customer complaints and disputes as well as regulatory sanctions. In addition brokers are required to disclose certain financial matters such as personal bankruptcies, judgments and liens.

In October 2018 a customer of Centaurus Financial alleged damages of $333,000 claiming that Makharia made unsuitable investment recommendations which resulted in market losses.

Makharia has been employed by Centaurus Financial since 5/2015. Prior to that he was employed by J.P. Turner & Co.

The FINRA records of  Marc F. Korsch ,   a  stockbroker who is employed by  Centaurus Financial  disclose 2 pending customer disputes.

In 11/2017 a customer of Centaurus Financial alleged unauthorized surrender of their annuity and is seeking damages of $5,000.

Marc Korsch  has been employed by Centaurus Financial since 2/2014.  Prior to that he was employed by Trustmont Finanical Group from 3/2011-3/2014.

Mark Reinking-Former Leader’s Group Broker-Subject of $1M Customer Suit-Austin, TX

The FINRA records of  Mark B. Reinking ,  a  stockbroker who is not currently registered with any broker dealer and who was last employed by The Leaders Group Inc. disclose a pending customer arbitraiton complaint.

The customer alleges breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, breach of contract, negligence in connection with the purchase of various direct investments, including real estate securities.

Reinking’s prior employment includes: The Leader’s Group 3/2015-8/2017; Centaurus Financial 6/2010-3/2013; Sunset Financial Services 11/197-6/2010. Reinking discloses business affiliations with RAM Financial Group (formerly Reinking Asset Management) and Risk Paradigm Group, both of which are located in Austin, TX.

Former Centaurus Broker Maryellen Lindley Fined/Suspended by FINRA

Anderson, South Carolina

Maryellen T. Lindley, formerly registered with Sandlapper Securities, was assessed a deferred fine of $10,000 and suspended by FINRA for 12 months to resolve allegations that she shared commissions iwth unregistered individuals.

In the FINRA findings, Lindley invested $1.1 million on behalf of customers  and earned commissions of about $90,000, half of which was shared with accountants, who were not registered with FINRA, who had referred the investors to her. The findings also state that Lindley failed to disclose this to her member firm and denied the commission spitting arrangement in response to FINRA’s requests for information.

According to FINRA records Finley was registered with Sandlapper Securities from 10/2013-1/2014. Prior to that she was registered with Centaurus Financial.

Centaurus Broker Stephen Lard Fined/Suspended by FINRA For Sale of Private Placement Investments

Roseville, CA

Stephen Samuel Lard was fined $5,000 and suspended for twenty days by FINRA to resolve allegations that he solicited and recommended that customers invest in speculative, high-risk and illiquid private-placement securities, resulting in an unsuitable overconcentration of the customer’s financial assets.

One customer suffered losses of over $400,000 in three different private-placements, two of which were Ponzi Schemes. Another customer invested $750,000 of their assets in a private-placement which they have been unable to liquidate due to significant limitations on reselling the investment and its redemption provisions.

According to FINRA records Lard was registered with Centaurus Financial from 3/2011 to 7/2014. He was previously registered with QA3 Financial.
