Peter B. Cohen-Ameritas Investment Broker-Discloses Pending Litigation

August 2016- Simsbury, CT

The FINRA records of Peter B. Cohen ,  a  stock broker who is currently  employed by Ameritas Investment Corp.  disclose a currently pending customer dispute.

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) is the agency that licenses and regulates stockbrokers and brokerage firms. FINRA requires brokers and brokerage firms to report customer complaints and disputes as well as regulatory sanctions. In addition brokers are required to disclose certain financial matters such as personal bankruptcies, judgments and liens.

A customer of Ameritas Investments Corp. filed an action for damages in State of Rhode Island Superior Court, Washington County, alleging fraudulent inducement, misrepresentation, negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, civil conspiracy and unjust enrichment in connection with the purchase of an insurance product. No specific amount of damages are alleged.

Cohen has been employed by  Ameritas Investment Corp.  since 7/2008.

Moosic Broker Jason Muskey Accused of Stealing From Relatives-Including Mother

November 15, 2014- The Scranton Times-Tribune reports that Jason Muskey of Moosic, PA, has been sued for stealing from his mother, his wife’s uncle and two others.

According to the suit, Muskey took advantage of people, mostly blue collar workers, who were not experienced in financial dealings and covered up his fraud for years by creating and sending out phony quarterly statements which led the victims to believe they were making money.

The suit names Ameritas Life Insurance and Ameritas Invesment Corp, since according to the allegations Muskey works the third shift at a warehouse and is broke.

FINRA records indicate the following about Muskey’s past professional career:

  • He was licensed with Ameritas Investment Corp from 6/2006-6/2014
  • He was licensed with Carillon Investments from 1/2006-6/2006
  • In June 2014 he was barred from the securities industry for failing to respond to a regulatory investigation
  • In June 2014 the United States Secret Service initiated an investigation into allegations of theft and forgery
  • There are 5 pending customer disputes and 1 customer dispute that has been resolved against Jason Muskey.

Ameritas Investment Corp. was formed in 1984. They have nearly 1,300 registered representatives in over 550 offices nationwide. Their main office is located in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Stockbroker Richard A. McGuire Sanctioned by Regulators

November 3, 2014- The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) barred Richard A. McGuire from associating with any FINRA member firm in any capacity and ordered him to pay restitution of $95,000, plus interest for forging a former customer’s signature to loan agreements. Disciplinary proceeding No. 20110273503. 

According to FINRA records, McGuire was registered with the following firms:

  • Investacorp, Inc.                                  6/2011-12/2012
