William Torriente Investigation

July 2022- Mt. Dora, Florida

According to publicly available records,  William “Eddy” Torriente, Jr. ,  a financial advisor previously employed by Comerica Securities, discloses a final regulatory matter, two pending customer disputes, a prior customer dispute and a termination from employment.

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) is the agency that licenses and regulates stockbrokers and brokerage firms. FINRA requires brokers and brokerage firms to report customer complaints and disputes as well as regulatory sanctions. In addition brokers are required to disclose certain financial matters such as personal bankruptcies, judgments and liens.

In 7/2022 FINRA permanently barred Torriente in all capacities to resolve allegations that he refused to cooperate with a FINRA investigation into allegations that he had voluntarily terminated his relationship with his firm while under internal review for placing transactions in client accounts without their authority.

In 3/2021 a customer of Comerica Securities filed FINRA case 21-671 alleging that Torriente violated the Arizona Securities Act, made unauthorized trades relating primarily to an option transaction in April 2020 that resulted in a short position causing damages of $500,000. This matter is currently pending.

In 3/2021 a customer of Comerica Securities filed FINRA case 21-658 alleging the Torriente violated the Arizona Securities Act and made unauthorized trades in options, equities and exchange traded funds (ETF). The customer is seeking damages of $50 million in this currently pending matter.

Torriente was employed by Comerica Securities from 19/2009 until 10/2020 when he voluntarily resigned.  Comerica made the following allegation on Torriente’s FINRA record: “placed transactions in client accounts that the clients were not aware of”.
