We are investigating Jefferies LLC financial advisor Ariel A. Rivero (CRD #4236679) on behalf of a client.
Our client, who resides in South America, has filed a Statement of Claim with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and is seeking damages in excess of $380,000. Our client alleges that Rivero made unsuitable recommendations to invest in non-traditional exchange traded funds and other investments that were not appropriate for our client, given his lack of investment acumen. In addition, our client alleges that Rivero made purchases and sales in his account without permission causing him significant losses.
Our client alleges that Jefferies hired Rivero with the knowledge that Rivero had policy issues with the brokerage firm where he previously worked—facts that were not shared with our client. In addition, the Statement of Claim alleges that Jefferies failed to adequately supervise Rivero, thereby allowing him to mismanage the account.
According to publicly available records, Ariel A. Rivero has been registered with Jefferies LLC since 5/2016. Prior to that he worked for Oppenheimer & Co. and before that Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch. His FINRA records indicate that he is a registered investment advisor with Leucadia Asset Management, LLC, in Miami, FL.
The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) is the agency that licenses and regulates stockbrokers and brokerage firms. FINRA requires brokers and brokerage firms to report customer complaints and disputes as well as regulatory sanctions. In addition brokers are required to disclose certain financial matters such as personal bankruptcies, judgments and liens.
