According to publicly available records, a Morgan Stanley & Co. (MSSB) financial advisor Jeffrey H. Leach (The Leach Group), discloses a regulatory event, 2 settled customer disputes and 2 pending customer disputes.
The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) is the agency that licenses and regulates stockbrokers and brokerage firms. FINRA requires brokers and brokerage firms to report customer complaints and disputes as well as regulatory sanctions. In addition brokers are required to disclose certain financial matters such as personal bankruptcies, judgments and liens.
In May 2011, case #0143-SR-4/11 was filed by the Florida Office of Financial Regulation, alleging that Leach conducted investment advisory business from offices within this state without the benefit of lawful registration. Sanctions were a $10,000 fine levied against Leach personally.
In May of 2020, a customer of MSSB filed FINRA case #20-01391 alleging unsuitability with respect to investments in the energy sector. The case was settled in the amount of $14,999.
In March of 2016, a MSSB customer filed FINRA case #16-00978 alleging unsuitability with respect to her investment accounts and hedge funds. The case was settled for $165,000.
In January of 2021, a MSSB customer filed FINRA case #21-00200 alleging misrepresentation with respect to her account investments and alternative investments. Alleged damages are $500,000 and the case is pending.
In December of 2019, a MSSB customer filed FINRA case #20-0009 alleging misrepresentation with respect to investment accounts. Alleged damages are $3,000,000 and this case is also pending.
