Redemption Programs Suspended On Your REIT and LP Investments?

Redemption Programs Suspended On Your REIT and LP Investments? 150 150 Rex Securities Law

If you have tried to redeem investments you made in real estate investment trusts (REITs) or limited partnerships (LPs) recently you may have received the bad news that the redemption program in your investment has been suspended, restricted or does not exist.

Redemption programs in many of the REIT and LP investments recommended by financial advisors and stockbrokers have been suspended over recent years. Since these investments are not generally traded on any conventional exchange, there essentially is no market should you want or need to liquidate your investment.

The following REITs and LPs have been suspended , restricted or do not exist:

  • American Finance Trust
  • ARC Healthcare Trust III
  • ARC New York City REIT
  • ATEL Leasing Programs
  • Behringer Harvard Opportunity REIT I
  • Highlands REIT
  • Hospitality Investors Trust (was ARC Hospitality Tr.)
  • Inventrust Properties
  • KBS Legacy Partners Apartment REIT
  • KBS REIT II
  •  Rancon Realty Fund IV
  • Strategic Realty Trust
  • Summit Healthcare REIT (was Cornerstone Core Prop REIT)
  • Uniprop MHC Income Trust II
  • United Development Funding III

Financial advisors and stockbrokers are required to make recommendations to investors that are suitable, taking into account their, age, health, degree of financial sophistication, investment objectives and risk tolerance. For many retirees seeking steady dependable income with limited downside, these investments were not suitable.

If you believe you were misled as to the risks associated with an investment in a REIT or LP, contact us to learn how you may be able to recover damages through FINRA arbitration.
