Larry M. Boggs-Former Ameriprise Broker-Sanctioned for Overtrading Accounts of Elderly Customers-Dallas, TX 150 150 Robert Rex, Esq.

November 2019-Dallas, TX

Larry Martin Boggs,  a  former stockbroker who worked for Wedbush Securities and Ameriprise Financial Services in Dallas was permanently barred from the securities industry by FINRA in January 2018.

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) is the agency that licenses and regulates stockbrokers and brokerage firms. FINRA requires brokers and brokerage firms to report customer complaints and disputes as well as regulatory sanctions. In addition brokers are required to disclose certain financial matters such as personal bankruptcies, judgments and liens.

In the recent regulatory agreement Boggs, without admitting or denying the findings, consented to the sanctions and to the entry of findings that he engaged in excessive and unsuitable trading in the accounts of customers, including several customers who were over 80 years of age. The customers accounts were designated conservative or moderate risk tolerance however the high frequency trading strategy employed by Boggs would have required the customers to earn 15% annually just to break even on the commissions and trading costs. Boggs was employed by Wedbush Securities from 5/2015-7/2016 and was with Ameriprise Financial from 10/2009-5/2015 when he was discharged for violations of company policy related to discretionary trading and suitability.
