A jury in Las Vegas found Anton Paul Drago guilty on 10 charges including conspiracy, fraud and theft of government funds, Drago, together with co-defendant, Joseph Rizzuti, formerly of Palm City, Florida, convinced their victims that they were exporting oil from Nigeria and promised returns of 3-4 times on invested capital.
In reality they never exported any oil, according to prosecutors, instead spending over a million on jewelry and travel. Another million was transferred to banks in China according to the allegations.
Drago, who passed himself off as an heir to the Shell Oil fortune, also told potential investors he was a disabled former Marine with 30 years experience as an oil and gas expert.
