According to the Tampa Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Dante S. Giovannetti, age 50, has been indicted and charged with five counts of wire fraud. The FBI release indicates Giovannetti raised $700,000 from four individuals who believed he would use it to trade E-mini S&P 500 futures contracts.
He did not trade it but instead used significant portions for personal expenses and sent out fake statements showing fictitious profits. A warrant was issued for his arrest and he fled to Canada where he was apprehended in January 2015. He faces up to 20 years on each count.
