The Federal Trade Commission issued a press release announcing that the have filed a court action against Consumer Collection Advocates, Corp. and Michael Robert Ettus, its president and sole owner, seeking a permanent injunction.
According to the complaint, telemarketers working for Consumer Collection called individuals and falsely represented that they could recover up to 60% of their investments, within 30-180 days, for an upfront fee which ranged from hundreds to many thousands of dollars. They also charged 20% of any recovery.
