The Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) was founded in 1990 and according to their website, “Serves as a voice for operators of senior living communities and the seniors and families those communities serve”.
In June 2014 ALFA and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau for Older Americans (CFPB) hosted an in depth look at the issues facing senior living communities and how senior living staff can help curb financial abuse among older Americans.
The CFPB published a new guide, Protecting Residents From Financial Exploitation: A Manual for Assisted Living and Nursing Facilities, which is specifically geared toward senior living communities and long-term care establishments.
A Tool Kit, Protecting Older Americans from Financial Abuse, can be downloaded on the ALFA website.
