June 25, 2015-Ocala, Florida
Bryan T. Zuzga, 37, of Goldwater, Michigan pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud according to an FBI press release. He faces up to 20 years in prison and has agreed to pay more than $11.6 million in restitution to the victims.
According to the release, Zuzga and his cohorts, Jenifer E. Hoffman, 38, of Clermont, Florida, and John C. Boschert, 43, of Apopka, Florida, defrauded over 100 victims through their company Assured Capital Consultants. Victims believed their money was being invested in a trading program called Performing Private Placement Investment. In reality the money was paid out in classic Ponzi scheme fashion to earlier investors and spent by the fraudsters.
Boschert pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in October 2014 and on June 25, 2015, was sentenced to nine years in federal prison, according to this FBI Press Release.
Hoffman is set for trial in July 2015.
